Born in Waterford, Ireland in 1967, Ger Mythen began his music career busking on the streets of his hometown in the mid-1980s. In 1994 he moved to Australia and spent 11 years on the Melbourne music scene before relocating to Singapore in November 2004. Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic Ger could be found performing four to five nights a week at various Singapore venues, including long term residencies at McGettigan’s at Clarke Quay and Molly Malone’s at Boat Quay. When live music was suspended indefinitely in the wake of the pandemic, he returned to his “busking” roots 21st century style and began streaming live shows from his home several evenings each week. As of mid-2021, with no sign of live gigs coming back, he is pursuing his other profession – teaching. He also occasionally doubles as a freelance writer and actor/voiceover artist. With an extensive repertoire covering genres from folk to blues to pop and rock. Ger is a highly versatile performer with a broad appeal, and hopefully will get to return to live performance before long.
